An exclusive first look at a forthcoming short series via Avatar Press.
(It’s not actually steampunk. And there’s not really a serial killer.)

 | 12:50 pm - Did me some cover art... part the second...
The first batch of the A Rhapsody for the Eternal limiteds recently came in. Each has a different, hand painted cover. I've shipped off all the copies but I just had to take a picture of them all together before doing that. I think they look so awesome this way! You can still order a copy here. | 10:34 am - Daily Fergus
 Listen May, 2009
So the other morning, and by morning I mean 4:11 AM, I awoke to some weird noises. I get up, step over Fergus, and start down the hall, pausing to listen by the corner. Sure enough there SOMEONE downstairs. I listen VERY acutely and it sounds like someone stuffing things into a bag.
The layout of my house doesn't lend itself to sneaking up on people. I gt to the lading, the last hiding spit, summon up my courage, and JUMP down the last few steps. "YAHAAAAAAHHHH"
Well I'm surprised I didn't, literally, scare the crap out of Simon. In my defense I was right, someone was stuffing something into a bag. It just happens that it was Simon stuffing his head into a Goldfish Cracker bag. So I caught my breath, yelled at him to get back to bed, cleaned up the mess of shredded bag, and went back to bed myself.

 | 10:04 am - I never saw this in Worlds Finest
Superman and Batman took on New York's Finest last night in an epic Crossroads of the World battle that left the Man of Steel behind bars and the Caped Crusader in cuffs.
Stunned Times Square tourists and office workers watched agog as cops struggled to subdue Clark Kent's alter ego without kryptonite.
Superman, a k a Maksim Katsnelson, 23, of The Bronx, was arrested and charged with assault and resisting arrested, police said, accusing him of punching a female officer in the face while she was trying to subdue him.
"He freaked out and punched the girl cop in the face," Batman said later.
Cops cuffed Batman, actually Frank Frisoli, but let him go because he didn't cause any problems, he told The Post.

 | 07:08 am - Farm Journal & Other Musings It's been a busy summer this year, with not much time to post.
I lost another turkey earlier this week, leaving only four out of the original six. I'm not sure how this one went, though I suspect it was a respiratory illness related to the cool nights we've been having. That made three graves I've had to dig by hand in the past month. Either things have to stop dying, or I'm getting a backhoe. Seriously.
It's been a challenge raising these turkeys. While they're not as delicate as some people claim, they do require more attention than chickens. They're better escape artists, and they tend to find ways to get themselves into trouble. The other day, I had to help one get unstuck from the fence. It had been sticking its long neck through the fence to get to some clover on the other side and had gotten stuck. Thankfully, it didn't freak out and break its own neck. I also had to rescue one that had managed to get its whole body stuck between the fencing. It was very odd.
So I'm down to four turkeys -- two toms and two hens. I've taken to picking them up and fully inspecting them for cuts, scabs, diarrhea or other indicators of illness. They don't appreciate me manhandling them, and they're getting strong now. Even though they're only 6 weeks old, they already have large talons, and their legs are much longer and stronger than the chicken's legs. My main concern is that the idiots will hurt themselves when they flail and flap their wings. I mean, I'm the guy who feeds them twice a day and changes their water daily. I let them out in the morning and close them up at night. I make the heat go on and off. It may be too much for me to hope that, as stupid as they are, they will eventually figure out that I am not here to hurt them.
On another note, despite the embarrassing amount of weeds, the corn is tasseling out, meaning it's getting the little hairs on top of the plant. I'm even seeing little ears developing on the plants. I have noticed deer in the field and some plants chewed and knocked over. I wouldn't mind so much if the deer just carefully ate some of the ears, but they are incredibly destructive, eating and trashing the plants. I sent the dog out after them one morning, and she chased them away. I'm sure that doesn't stop them from feeding at night, those bastards, but it made me feel better.
The day job seems to be going well, too. I have a number of projects in the works, which I'm optimistic will be profitable. I'm finding that If I just keep chipping away at things every day, pretty soon, I'm on my way. I didn't realize how far I've come even considering our family's medical crisis this past year.

| 05:23 am - Check out: Away We Go
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/wondermark/~3/xJyFTe9ABGM/ http://wondermark.com/?p=4108
I highly recommend the movie Away We Go, the newest from director Sam Mendes. I don’t think it’s for everybody, but for me, a dude really close to 30 who is in the first sort of nascent stages of starting a family yet who’s still waiting to discover what Adulthood is supposed to feel like, I think this movie was utterly, totally for me.
I won’t link you to the trailer or anything though, because with all due respect to my friends who worked on the marketing, this movie (like pretty much every movie) is better off seen totally cold, without anticipating the big moments that the trailer and commercials give away. So, don’t watch the marketing, but do see the movie. (Oh, and if you don’t like it — well, there’s no accounting for taste. I liked it. Let’s not argue about it, huh?)
Finally: take a look at John Krasinski up there. What do you notice?
He’s bearded.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is the only mainstream, non-period American movie in a great while in which the primary romantic protagonist wears a full beard. Leave me a comment if I’m wrong; I’d like to know if there are others!

 | 07:40 pm - SoundExchange
I can't make any sense of what this new SoundExchange settlement actually means for DNA Lounge. Is someone going to come knocking on my door asking for an additional $25,000 per year because of our webcasts? Given that A) we are already paying ASCAP/SESAC/BMI for them, and B) the webcasts produce zero revenue. If you think you understand this crap, please explain it to me... | 10:18 pm - In other lame news 1. My electric bill, since I haven't run the a/c, for the past 2 months has been about $25. 2. I filled up my tank and didn't believe it when my car reported per my math that I just got about 45 mpg in a non-hybrid car. Today I filled up to discover I got 38-39 mpg driving 65-75 avg for over 300 miles. (hybrids only get about 50 mpg but cost about 25% more than my regular stick-shift civic ex) 3. I have suffered such bad losses with my RIMM gamble going down 18% that I might as well have left the ac and tv on 24/7, and filled my fuel efficient car with sand because I could have bought my honda all over again for the amount I lost in that RIMM job.
